Why We Cook: a list dedicated to food writing

On Friday 22nd September we welcome Rebecca May Johnson, author of the absolutely exquisite Small Fires: an epic in the kitchen, to the Lighthouse . It's a book that questions why we cook, and transforms this everyday act into a way of thinking about - and being in - the world.

We' re so excited about this that we had to put together a list of some of the books that have  offered us moving and lasting lessons on politics, power, memory, grief and belonging, all through food and the way it reaches our bodies, in poetry, memoir, intellectual exploration and fiction.
