Em Strang, poet and author of the piercing QUINN, which we'll be launching in the shop on March 9th, shares the books that informed the writing of her debut novel.

Quinn is a literary exploration of human capacity for forgiveness told through the story of a young man serving a life sentence for a crime he's convinced he hasn't committed. Surely the authorities have got it wrong, and when they find his childhood sweetheart, Andrea, his name will be cleared. His parole is drawing near when he receives an unexpected letter from Andrea's mother, who invites Quinn to share her home.

Join us on March 9th to celebrate the arrival of QUINN, inspired by Em's experiences of working as a teacher in prison for almost ten years. Tickets are available HERE

Below is Em's list of books, excluding a few which are not currently available through the shop, such as The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness by Erich Fromm, Crossing the Yard by Richard Shelton, Narrative Approaches to Working with Adult Male Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse by Kim Etherington, The Boy Who Stole Attila's Horse by Ivan Repila and The Pain of Confinement, Prison Diaries by Jimmy Boyle.
