Eerie fiction on mothering inspired by 'Life Cycle of a Moth'
Mairi
Maya and Daughter live in complete isolation in a secluded woodland, their days aligned with the light and changing seasons, a complex pattern of routine and ritual. Daughter has never questioned the life her mother has chosen for them; the life that has meant she's never met another soul, or known anywhere except their forest home.
On June 11th we invite you to join us for the atmospheric summer launch of a wondrous new novel. Life Cycle of a Moth by Rowe Irvin is haunting and thrlllingly alive. Exploring both the tenderness and ferocity of maternal love, it is also a fierce queer debut, marking the arrival of a disarming new voice in feminust fiction - every line is a treat!
Inspired by Rowe's novel, we gathered a small collection of examples of eerie fiction with mothering at their core. These are far from idealised natrratives of straight-forward caring, but stories that dare spend time in the shadows that intense mothering relationships and experiences cast, from the somewhat supernatural to the disturbingly mundane.
Join us to welcome Life Cycle of a Moth to the world - tickets are HERE!
