We are Edinburgh’s alternative, independent and entirely bookshop run flea market of books and ideas- the Radical Book Fair showcases the best in radical and progressive publishing and ideas for building a better tomorrow.
Our theme for 2021 is Futures Worth Fighting For! We'll be championing radical politics & imagination, conjuring a more just and beautiful world, and exploring how we bring those visions to life.
The Fair is made up of book stalls, activist stalls, events, workshops and more!
The Radical Book Fair has been a staple of Edinburgh's political and literary landscape for 20 years, originally run by Word Power Books, we've hosted writers as varied as Wole Soyinka, Michael Rosen, Stella Dadzie, Paula Akpan, Ann Pettifor, Priyamvada Gopal and Maya Goodfellow.
This year's speakers include Aja Barber, Leah Cowan, Akwugo Emejulu, Mara Menzies, Eve Livingston, Jen Deerinwater, Lisa Fannen and many more covering everything from sustainability to borders, abolition to radical imagination, pleasure politics and more.
The first wave of events will be announced on October 11th, and the full line up of talks, workshops, marketplaces and more will be up with a downloadable program the following week.
We're thrilled to be back at the Assembly Roxy again- more than just a venue they have been real partners to us over the years and we can't wait to be back in the hall!
The Roxy is just a couple streets from the bookshop on Roxburgh Place, a HUGE wheelchair-accessible converted church in the heart of the Old Town, with lots of space and air flow. If you have any access needs to make the most of the event please don't hesitate to get in touch with us!
We'll be asking all guests to keep their masks on while in the venue, and speakers will be on stage & socially distanced. The pandemic remains at the forefront of all our planning, so we'll also be live streaming events as well.
