Decadent, Stricken, Dying

“No one colonizes innocently,  no one colonizes with impunity either.”

Europe, writes Aimé Césaire, is not civilized. It is decadent, stricken, dying. In this electrifying text, Western civilisation is stripped of its alibis and exposed as the foundation of modern brutality. What shocks is not the violence itself, but the clarity: fascism was not an aberration, but a return.
