November is Poetry month for us & this particularly dynamic duo are the perfect antidote to dark winter nights - join us for a Saturday night double bill with Iain Morrison & Samantha Walton!

Iain Morrison’s debut collection I’m a Pretty Circler is experimental without being intimidating; conversational without being casual; and outrageous without shedding tenderness. Within its pages, Emily Dickinson rubs shoulders with drag queens, while nineteenth-century German composers are as likely to be referenced as dating apps. Morrison balances punchy, patterned short poems with longer more conversational or collaged works that explore ways in which sex, class, technology and religion intertwine in contemporary Britain

Samantha Walton is a poet, publisher and academic based in Bristol. Her poetry has been published in Chicago Review, Tripwire, Cambridge Literary Review, Cordite, Granta, and Geohumanities Journal. She is co-editor of Sad Press, a publisher of new innovative poetry and translations. Her debut poetry collection Self Heal, published by Boiler House Press, brims with riotous and tender experimental lyrics on love, work, protest, and survival among haunted interiors and post-industrial landscapes. It explores processes of destruction and healing, testing the possibilities of self and collective care through meditations on poetic artifice and the architecture of identity, all with a thrilling linguistic strut and twinklings of mordant wit. And to add to it all Samantha is currently completing a book on Nan Shepherd’s environmental thought, due out in mid 2019.
