Edinburgh’s Radical Bookshop

Home of Word power Books

'Tis the season to READ, RESIST, and look after each other.

Christmas is just around the corner and we are open today, and tomorrow and Tuesday. And we have books - all kinds, for all ages.

If, shockingly, you need non-book gifts, you’ll find fantastic cards & ethical presents - board games, gloves, rugs & more at DIGGER, just next door to the bookshop.

Boris’ election was devastating to many of us- but our community rallies and we’ve been blown away by the solidarity we’ve seen since Dec 12th.

In 2020 we’ll be hosting monthly solidarity socials to share resources & information, plan local action & indulge in good coffee & cake. Dates will be announced early January - but ideas for community speakers to invite (would be paid) or topics to really explore - from homelessness to accessibility, benefits, mental health, radical parenting - are all very welcome.

Thanks again for all your support this year - looking forward to many more gatherings, discussions & bookish chats in the new year!

We’ll be kicking off events for 2020 with Jo Clifford headlining Inky Fingers, and the launch of Marbles Mag #5 with Kirsty Logan, Lola Keeley & Sean Wai Keung. We’ll be welcoming back Thomas Schmidinger for a new book on Rojava, AFRIN and be hosting a number of community gigs - and that’s just to get started.

Wishing you all a magnificent, restful end to 2019.

Love & solidarity,

The Lighthouse family
