Support the writers boycotting PEN America

Last month, a number of writers announced their decision not to participate in this year’s PEN World Voices Festival in New York and LA. This comes as a response to PEN America, the festival’s organiser, and its failure to issue a clear call for a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as its history of condemning authors who participate in PACBI (the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel).

You can read their open letter published in Literary Hub.

The PEN America Literary Awards was cancelled as a result of the coordinated boycott and dogged work of Writers Against the War on Gaza. For authors still wondering if their voices matter, the $75,000 Prize will now be donated to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (@ThePCRF). To borrow the words of Lit Hub's Dan Sheehan, "the moral courage of dozens of writers of conscience who spoke out in solidarity with the people of Gaza" made the difference.

Here, we’ve gathered a list of books by those authors who signed the letter whose books are available in the UK.

You can also check out a list if authors who have withdrawn from PEN America literary prizes HERE.
